Who doesn’t want to pack like a rock star? It’s something that we don’t necessarily think about when idolizing these musicians… but being on the road for days on end, AND packing for it can’t be an easy task.
I met Shaun Huberts a while back at a CreativeMix Conference, who introduced me to this concept, and to his great new book “How to Pack Like a Rock Star“. As a bassist for bands like Tegan and Sara, and his new band Rococode, Shaun is well versed in the how-to’s of packing for the road. The book is best described as “a photo-driven, nerdy-cool, how-to book, full of groundbreaking suitcase packing ideas from over 30 different musicians world-wide!”
… EPIC!
It’s almost as epic as being asked to photograph one of the musicians for the book. I had the pleasure of shooting Sara Bareilles, who’s incredibly talented and such a sweet heart. With only a few minutes to get the shots while Sara was in town getting ready for a show, we ran backstage and powered through them.
Sara is just one of the musicians being featured, but others include Vampire Weekend, Paramore, Death Cab for Cutie, Tegan and Sara, Manchester Orchestra, Gomez, City and Colour, The Gaslight Anthem, AFI, New Found Glory, Cold War Kids, and Tokyo Police Club.
